Do you want to listen to the best new songs of 2022 for events?

Parties resurged fast and furious in May 2022, and that momentum never slowed down. While bar & club residencies, wedding and private events were all being executed by us at a record pace, we often lamented that great new bangers to play at them did not flow as well as they have in other years. Looking back, 2022 was a decent year for new music, and together as a team we have compiled a look at back at the best of the year for events, with a commentary on the top ten that really stood out from the pack.

  1. “About Damn Time” by Lizzo – There was no better new song this year to get everyone in the mood to party than Lizzo’s funky jam about coming out tonight. The Purple Disco remix made for a great clubby version.
  2. “Break My Soul” by Beyonce – Queen Bey takes the trophy for the most requested song of the year. Her summer album was much beloved, and the hit single was a constant crowd pleaser in the second half of the year. It didn’t always smash the dance floor, but for those waiting to hear it, screams of joy were released when the chorus came on.
  3. “Deep Down” by Alok, Ella Eyre, Kenny Dope feat. Never Dull – Anyone who has nostalgia for 90s dance tracks suddenly got their Electric Circus on with this new tune, laden with throwback samples, references and goof feels. A winner at any jam.
  4. “I’m Good” by David Guetta and Bebe Rexha –  A big club sound with an earl-2000s sample, Tiesto took the goofy Eiffel65 tune, put some frat party lyrics over top of it, and created an instant classic dance party song.
  5. “As It Was” by Harry Styles – Uptempo and at the same time melancholic, the former One Direction front man exploded on the solo scene this year, and his memoir on the pandemic could easily be remembered in the long term as the song that broke through after we were allowed to socialize again.
  6. “Last Last” by Burna Boy – Afrobeats went main stream for us this year, and Burna Boy’s the leader of the pack. This sample of “Man Enough For Me” by Toni Braxton pushes the nostalgia button while simultaneously creating an accessible brand new sound for everyone to enjoy.
  7. “Super Freaky Girl” by Nicki Minaj – Move over MC Hammer, Nicki’s take on the Rick James classic “Superfreak” is a whole new way to enjoy the track, and making it relevant to today’s generation. It never caught on as the big song of the year for the dance party, but it might still build in time.
  8. “The Motto” by Test & Ava Max – From gym classes to stadiums, this was one of the most pumping new songs to come out this year.
  9. “Lick” by Shenseea & Megan Thee Stallion – Put your back in it! The moment the chorus hits, you can’t help but start to move.
  10. “Never Gonna Not Dance Again” by P!nk – A little bit cheesy, this disco-sounding one might not be an instant classic, but it does satisfy the need for some good clean wholesome happy music which can cross over for kids and adults.

Honourable mention this year goes to “Gimme! Gimme! Gimme!” by ABBA, “Never Gonna Give You Up” by Rick Astley, and “Big Energy” by Latto. These songs rose to prominence this year despite being released in 1979, 1987 and 2021 respectively.
